What We Believe About Baptism
If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then you are ready to be baptized. Just like a bride and groom show their commitment to one another by wearing wedding bands, your baptism is your opportunity to show others that you have accepted Jesus Christ and are now walking with Him.
Salvation and baptism are two separate things. Salvation occurs when you decide to place your faith and trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Romans 10:9 says, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Salvation is the only way for us to have a relationship with God and to spend eternity in heaven when we die.
Baptism, on the other hand, is a one time public act to show that you have already become a follower of Jesus Christ. Baptism should happen after salvation.
